Ferrari Unveils F1 2010 Car

The F10, Ferrari's brand new machine which will be competing in the 2010 Formula One season has been unveiled. Official testing will commence in Valencia on February 1, and Fernando Alonso along with Felipe Massa can't wait to get into the cockpit.

Ferrari Unveils F1 2010 Car
Ferrari had one of their worst years in the 2009 Formula 1 season, finishing a poor 4th in the team standings. Both their drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa also finished the drivers standings at a poor 6th and 11th respectively. So Ferrari will be eager to put a comparatively miserable year behind them and get a head start for this new season. But they will have to fend off stiff challenge from Mercedes who have recruited 7 time world champ Michael Schumacher, besides having in possession last year's winning team (read: Formula 1: Mercedes-Benz Buy Up Champion Team). Then there is McLaren who have the all British line up of Lewis Hamilton and last year's world champ Jenson Button. So Ferrari have their work cut out for this season, and just a brand new car isn't going to assure them of a top slot.

Ferrari Unveils F1 2010 Car
Whenever Ferrari unveiled a new car, they named it 'F' and a number for the corresponding year. Last year they had named the car F60, in honor of Ferrari's 60th anniversary in Formula 1. This year they have gone back to the conventional way and have named their car F10. This season is going to be extra exciting with so many transfers (drivers to teams), and also a whole lot of new teams that will be competing. The grid is going to be packed, and no team can take their chances for granted. Just a month or so to go for the start, all fans waiting with bated breath

BMW started in 1916, whereas Mercedes-Benz started in 1886, making it the oldest car company still operative today. It is believed that the sales of BMW is increasing, whereas that of its stated rival is decreasing.

Mercedes - Benz

What are supercars

Supercars are high-end sports cars that are worth much more than an ordinary sports car. At their cost which is usually above $100,000 USD, they are what are known to be rich men's toys, simply because the price is fairly reasonable to them. In fact, supercars are a symbol of status, as a car that is known for its power, speed, and beauty, and does not really function as a practical mode of transportation. Yet, many people are wishful to own one of their own.

Interestingly, there is not much of a difference between ordinary sports cars and supercars, except for their cost that typically begins at $100,000 USD. There are however some supercars that is slightly lower in price. As this is the case, what are supercars really depends on the features, and not the cost.

supercars
Supercars have engines that have the ability to produce several hundred horsepower, allowing the car to move at a very fast speed and accelerate quickly. Most countries have laws against the speed these cars can reach, but there are also places where such speed is legal. Although with such speed, it can be easily assumed that they can be used as race cars, this is usually not the case because they are not equipped with the safety features that race cars have which ensures that the racing experience is safe. Thus, supercars are more of a cruising vehicle or for people who loves the adrenaline rush from driving fast.

supercars
Most people would probably not get a chance to afford a real supercar, but there are certain places that have them available for rent. But because renting it out would expose the renters to the risk of losing the car to theft or damage, there are special insurance that will be needed, which would be included in the rental fees. Hence, the price of rental itself can be a huge sum, which would be beyond most individuals' financial capabilities. Yet, this might be the closest chance to enjoying a ride in this dream car.

The Alfa Romeo 4C

Cars are not only a sign of status, but are proud accomplishments for car owners. And Alfa Romeo are a brand that have always been synonymous with luxury and concept, as well as being grand and loved by British motorists.

But in current years they have taken a back seat to other luxury and super car producers like Ferrari and McLaren, but their new offering could see them catapulted back into the forefront of car design.

The Alfa Romeo 4C
The Alfa Romeo 4C will be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, and is hoped that the vehicle, with its carbon fibre and aluminium body will throw the brand back to their glory days of car production. it was well received at the Geneva Motor show earlier on in the year, and therefore the car designers feel it is only a matter of time before it is embraced by the rest of the world. The change in material will mean that the car weighs less than eight hundred and fifty kilogram's which will put it into the same bracket as a Lotus Elise, and it is therefore able to hit speeds of sixty two miles per hour in less than five seconds.

The Alfa Romeo 4C
It mimics the Porsche Cayman in terms of weight distribution as the main engine will be mounted in the centre of the car, and it has an excellent fuel economy thanks to the two clutch automatic transmission that it offers.

It is yet to be confirmed how many of this vehicle will be produced, and it seems that this might be negated on the reception at the festival of speed, but it is thought that the price tag will be around forty five thousand pounds, which is fairly small for a supercar in this range.

The car will be expensive to insure as supercars are generally harder to price and have more risk, but if you are driving on the roads in the UK and are driving a regular street car, then make sure you go online for Car Insurance to save yourself time and money in the long run, that can be put towards a brand new supercar!

Nissan GT R 2011

The Nissan GT-R is one of the fastest cars money can buy and for 2011 has undergone a series of tweaks to make it even quicker still. It might cost £10,000 more than before, but it's still a true performance bargain.

Few cars in recent years have shaken things up quite as comprehensively as Nissan’s formidable GT-R. Brutal to look at, ballistic to drive and punching well above its price tag in pure performance terms, the twin-turbo, all-wheel drive, four-seat GT-R picked-up its premium brand opposition by their lapels and shook them them till their gritted teeth rattled.

Nissan GT R 2011
For 2011 Nissan has given the GT-R its first major revamp, with enhancements to the exterior, interior and drivetrain. Clearly the GT-R’s legendary project leader Kazutoshi Mizuno is unfamiliar with the phrase “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, for the outgoing model was hardly lacking in performance.

Undaunted, Mizuno-san and his team have extracted significant increases in power and torque, generated more aerodynamic downforce and stiffened the GT-R’s structure, while at the same time reducing fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and the drag coefficient.

Nissan GT R 2011
The defining experience of the outgoing GT-R was its relentless mid-range acceleration and instantaneous gearshifts thanks to its double-clutch, paddle-shift transmission. The revised car adds fiercer top-end performance to the mix, pulling hard and keen all the way to the 7,100rpm redline. It’s been said before, but an 1800kg car simply shouldn’t be able to move this rapidly.

If the twin-turbo V6’s 520bhp and 475lb ft of torque make easy work of hurling the GT-R up the road, then the 10mm larger diameter front brake discs more than cope with slowing it down. Lighter triple-forged alloy wheels and new Dunlop run-flat tyres have slightly improved the ride comfort, and the steering feel and initial response is sharper and more immediate

The Audi R8

The Audi R8 in my opinion is one the best designed super cars out on the market today. The car looks, sounds, and rides amazingly good. The all new 2012 Audi R8 GT is an improved model over last years with slightly more horsepower and some savings on weight.

Last year's Audi R8 had a 5.2 liter FSI V10 which put out 525hp. The 2012 Audi R8 GT puts out 560hp with the same liter engine through different exhaust and some engine tuning. The new R8 also saves about 220 pounds with lighter components throughout the car. Last year's Audi R8 5.2 could scoot from 0-60 in about 3.7 seconds and had a top speed of 196 mph. The 2012 model's 0-60 is an improved 3.5 seconds and does the quarter mile in a lightning 11.5 seconds.

Audi R8 GT
Needless to say the new R8 is faster than the 2011, but there is one drawback, the price. The price of this car will run you just over $200,000. Sounds like a lot of money, but for this type of car, it really isn't. Consider Ferrari's 458 Italia; the price on this car is about $220000. It will produce 562 HP which is just two more than the R8 GT. 333 Audi R8 GT's will be built and 90 of them will make it to the United States. Audi has really outdone themselves on the design which hasn't changed since the launch of the R8, but still looks very fresh.

On the track the R8 has always been one of the better supercars in this area. The 2011 R8 wasn't as quick as some of the other cars that were tested on a 0-60 test, but beat them on the track because the handling was so superior to the rest. The 2012 has more horsepower which would typically make the handling decrease, however this is not the case. On a track the R8 is more "touchy" than it used to be. You need some skill to drive this car and you must have a good reacting speed.

The Ferrari F50

The Ferrari F50 was designed to commemorate Ferrari's 50th anniversary in 1996.
Typically low-slung with huge forward air intakes, sleek lines sweeping gracefully up to the rear airfoil and aerodynamic slopes behind both seats, the F50 is part Batmobile, part ballistic missile.

The 12-cylinder, 4.75-liter, rear-mounted engine slams out 520 horsepower, flashing the car from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and taking the carbon-fiber body to a top speed of 203 mph.

Ferrari F50
Only 349 F50s were made in Ferrari's factory near Modeno in northern Italy. Ferrari says half already have been reserved before the car was introduced.

"Our studies showed a market for 350 cars like this," says spokesman Antonio Ghini. "But Ferraris are something cultural, a monument. They must be hard to find, so we will produce one less car than the market."

Fifty F50s each were sold in the United States, Germany and Italy, Ferrari's biggest markets. Most of the others were sold in Asia and elsewhere in Europe.

"We have in 50 years of racing won every kind of victory: Formula One, Le Mans, Dayton, Sebring," President Luca di Montezemolo said in an interview. "In this car we put 50 years of know-how."

But he said the F50 is the first and last car Ferrari will build based on a Formula One engine because of tougher emission standards going into effect in the next few years in the United States and elsewhere.

Lotus Evora

Evora is the first all-new Lotus since the iconic Elise made its debut in 1995. It enters the sports car market as currently the world’s only mid-engined 2+2. Powered by a Lotus-tuned 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 280 PS, and weighing just 1350 kg (prototype specification), the Evora promises breathtaking performance.

During preliminary testing around the famous Nürburgring, the Lotus chassis engineers report that it is extremely agile and great fun to drive - even when clad with the full development disguise that hid the beautiful lines from the prying motor-industry paparazzi.

Lotus Evora
In addition to its excellent performance and exemplary handling, the Evora offers a more refined ownership experience than Lotus’s existing smaller four-cylinder models. Its elegantly styled cabin is elegantly trimmed and its equipment list includes contemporary features such as an advanced touch-screen multi-media system and electric power-fold door mirrors.

Because one of the roles of the Evora is to attract new customers to the Lotus brand, much attention has been paid to its ease of use. Wider, taller door apertures and narrower sills make getting in and out of the cabin a less athletic undertaking than it is in Lotus’s smaller sports cars (the Elise, Exige, Europa and 2-Eleven), while the design of the cabin itself will accommodate two 99th percentile (6ft 5in tall) American males in the front seats.

Lotus Evora
The Evora has been designed with global automotive regulations in mind, and future derivatives are planed, these including amongst others, a convertible.

The Evora will be hand crafted and built on a dedicated new assembly line within Lotus’s advanced manufacturing facility at Hethel in the east of England; capacity limitations will restrict production to approximately 2000 cars a year, ensuring the dynamic new sports car’s rarity and exclusivity.

ferrari f430 spider

Ferrari F430 Spider joins the F430 as the latest addition to the new generation of Ferrari V8-engined sports cars. The F430 Spider's innovative aerodynamics, honed to generate dynamic air flows to increase down-force and improve cooling, and the F1 gearbox featuring upgraded software, are just two examples of how Ferrari's technological excellence has been transferred from the track to road.

Ferrari F430 Spider
The F430 Spider's all-aluminium bodywork and chassis have also been carefully strengthened, to guarantee both occupant safety and the structural rigidity demanded by a car of such high performance.

Porsche 997 GT2 RS

The power: 620 hp. The weight: 1,370 kilograms or 3,021 lb in road trim with all fluids on board. The car: the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The GT2 RS is making its world debut at the Moscow Auto Show on August 25th.

The future top GT model marking the absolute climax in the 911 range is the fastest and most powerful road-going sports car ever built in the history of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart. With power up by 90 hp and weight down by 70 kilograms or 154 lb in comparison with the 911 GT2, the new 911 GT2 RS has a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.21 kilos or 4.9 lb per horsepower, by far the best power/weight ratio in its class. Obviously, these are the ideal ingredients for an ultra-high-performance sports car with supreme agility, truly blistering performance on the road, and of course exemplary Porsche Intelligent Performance. For despite this extra power and performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions versus the 911 GT2 are down by approximately 5 per cent to 11.9 ltr/100 km (equal to 23.7 mpg imp) and 284 g/km.

Porsche 997 GT2 RS
The 3.6 litre six-cylinder boxer engine boosted by two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry exclusive to Porsche in its combination with a gasoline engine drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Developed especially for the 911 GT2 RS, sports tyres measuring 325/30 ZR 19 convert this massive power into equally massive performance and acceleration on the road: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in just 9.8 seconds, and 0 to 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds. Top speed is 330 km/h.

Equally supreme stopping power on this ultra-high-performance sports car comes from PCCB composite ceramic brakes. Appropriate longitudinal and crosswise dynamics are ensured by the sporting RS set-up of the springs, PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti-roll bars, as well as the dynamic engine mounts and PSM Porsche Stability Management.
